When comparing watch materials, first identify the component being described. The case, front crystal, case back, bezel, strap and buckle can use different materials. One material name cannot describe the complete watch.
Case and crystal are different components
The case is the housing around the watch. The crystal is the transparent cover through which you view the dial. A watch described as having a sapphire crystal does not, by that description alone, have a sapphire case. For a transparent design, ask which parts of the housing use the stated material.
Confirmed sapphire case models
The case material for CM001-10A, CM001-10B, CM001-10C, CM001-09, CM08-019 and C31.SP.W is sapphire. CM08-019 and C31.SP.W appear as separate options within one product listing; choose the exact model you intend to order.
Sapphire ranks 9 on the Mohs scale, a measure of scratch hardness. That figure is a material property, not an impact rating or a durability certificate for a finished CronusArt watch. See GIA's explanation of sapphire hardness and toughness.
Confirmed aluminum-magnesium alloy cases
CM09-001, CM09-005 and CM09-006 have aluminum-magnesium alloy cases. Compare their actual designs rather than assuming that a shared case material means identical dimensions, features or wear.
Read other collection names at model level
Carbon Fiber, Crystal and Ceramic are browsing categories in the store. For a purchase decision, check the selected model's component specifications. The word Crystal alone does not identify its composition; a patterned surface alone does not establish a particular carbon construction or supplier.
When a specification is important to you, ask which component uses the material and whether the answer applies to the option you selected. This is especially useful when one listing contains several model codes.
Compare the complete product
After identifying the case material, compare the width, overall length, thickness, weight of the watch itself, strap adjustment range and operating features. Keep product weight separate from packed shipping weight. For water use, follow the instructions for the exact model rather than drawing a conclusion from the case material.
Send your model code and the component you want to understand to hi@cronusart.com. You can also browse all models and keep two or three candidates open while comparing their details.
Questions about CronusArt watch materials
Is a sapphire case the same as a sapphire crystal?
No. The case is the watch housing; the crystal covers the dial. A sapphire crystal specification does not establish the case material. Our sapphire case and crystal guide explains how to read these two descriptions.
How do CM001-10B and CM09-006 differ in case material?
CM001-10B has a sapphire case. CM09-006 has an aluminum-magnesium alloy case. Those confirmed facts describe the cases, rather than every component of either watch. Use our CM001-10B and CM09-006 comparison to start with their appearance and prepare questions about fit and operation.
Does sapphire hardness tell me how a complete watch handles an impact?
No. The Mohs scale describes scratch hardness, not the impact performance of an assembled watch. A material property is not a model-specific impact test. GIA's care guidance, linked above, explains why hardness and toughness describe different properties.
Does the weight of a shipped parcel tell me the weight of the watch?
No. Packed shipping weight includes packaging and any supplied items. To compare how two watches may feel on the wrist, ask for the net weight of the exact watch and selected option, alongside its case dimensions and strap adjustment range.
Use the material facts to make your shortlist
- Keep the complete model code and selected option beside each product link.
- Identify the component each material name describes, then compare the dimensions and operating details of the complete watch.
- For any missing detail that affects your choice, send the model reference and your question to hi@cronusart.com before ordering.
